Solubility: insoluble in cold water, soluble in hot water, slightly soluble in water, ethylene glycol, glycerol, (hot) ethanol, insoluble in ether, benzene, carbon tetrachloride.

It is white monoclinic crystal, almost odorless, slightly soluble in water, soluble in methanol, formaldehyde, acetic acid, etc., insoluble in acetone, ether, harmful to health.

Melamine is a trimer of aminocyanine, the resin made of it will release a lot of nitrogen when heated and decomposed, so it can be used as a flame retardant, and it is also the metabolite of the insecticide cyromazine in the body of plants and animals.

Melamine – Main Applications

Decorative panels: It can be made into fireproof, shock-resistant and heat-resistant laminates, colorful, strong and heat-resistant decorative panels, veneer panels for airplanes, ships and furniture, and fireproof, shock-resistant and heat-resistant decorative materials for houses.

Coating: After etherification with butanol and methanol, it is used as the adhesive of advanced thermosetting coating and solid powder coating, and it can be used to make metal coating and high-grade aminoplastic resin decorative paint for vehicles and electrical appliances.

Molding Powder: After mixing, granulation and other processes can be made into diamine plastic, non-toxic, stain-resistant, moisture can still maintain good electrical properties, can be made into white, drop-resistant daily utensils, sanitary ware and porcelain tableware, electrical equipment and other high-grade insulating materials.

Paper: It can be used as paper treatment agent after etherization with ether to produce wrinkle-resistant, shrinkage-resistant, non-corrosive banknotes and military maps and other high-grade paper.
